Tom provides GSP with expertise in computational research and software development. Tom completed his BSc in Computer Science (First Class Honours) at the University of Manchester, and subsequently received an MRes and Ph.D. in Medical Image Computing from University College London. His research has focused on medical image feature extraction to aid detection and assessment of disease progression; involving the extraction and quantitative analysis of clinical image biomarkers, image analysis and registration, development of novel software algorithms, and design of user interfaces to facilitate research with clinical and industrial collaborators.
Since completing his Ph.D., he co-founded a technology consultancy company, specialising in the development of bespoke research equipment; and went on to help establish Gold Standard Phantoms.
Tom's role as Chief Information Officer is to oversee development of the computational aspects of GSP's technologies, in addition to supporting the IT infrastructure within the organisation. He is passionate about technology and can often be found reading about computer science and developing software in his free time. He is also a dedicated capoeirista, and a keen fingerstyle guitarist.
